Our Band

2022 marked forty years of Crewe Concert Band!

Our Band was formed in 1982, for woodwind and brass players of all ages, and until April 2011 was known as Crewe West End Concert Band, the name being taken from the Band's original rehearsal venue. We are immensely proud of the fact that we still have some of the Band's founding members within our lineup.
 
Our members are predominantly amateur musicians, although some are, or have been, professional musicians and/or music teachers.

We represent a wide range of backgrounds, professions and age groups but we come together through a shared love of making music for our own enjoyment, and the enjoyment of others.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we returned stronger than ever and we continue to grow.

Adam Shilton - Musical Director

Adam began his playing career at the age of four, starting with local Concert Bands and progressing into the local Brass Band movement.
 
A military career, with operational deployment in the Middle East, saw Adam taking a break from music. However these wartime experiences were ultimately to influence his eventual return to music, retraining with a view to teaching music in schools.
 
A visit to Crewe Concert Band during the summer of 2018 rekindled Adam's fond childhood memories of the Concert Bands where his playing career began, he recognised that he could use his musical experience and expertise develop our Band, and, in doing so, give something back to the Concert Band community that nurtured his early musical development. A successful audition and band vote saw Adam join us for his first full rehearsal as Musical Director on 4th October 2018.
 
Speaking of the Band, Adam said "Crewe Concert Band are a truly welcoming and relaxed group of people and an absolute pleasure to work alongside. I have been staggered by their enthusiasm and passion for music, allowing me to inject diversity and versatility into their performances".

Our Home

We rehearse every Thursday evening from 7:30pm - 9:30pm at Wistaston Memorial Hall, Church Lane, Crewe, CW2 8EZ.
